With its 60 years of experience, our subsidiary MT Mechatronics (MTM) specialises in turnkey communication antennas, optical and radio telescopes, industrial systems as well as mechatronic equipment for research institutes, launching facilities for European space programmes and medical equipment for cancer therapy.
The company’s projects include, among other things, 25 precision antennas for ALMA, the most complex and largest ground-based observatory in the world, located in the Atacama Desert in Chile, participation in the world’s most powerful radio telescope SKA (Square Kilometre Array), which, with a total antenna area of 1,000,000 square metres, is currently being developed in the South African Karoo desert and the Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT). The view through this revolutionary astronomic device, which will boast a resolution 10 times that of the Hubble Space Telescope, goes back to a time when, following reionisation, the universe was transparent to light (approximately 400,000 years after the Big Bang).
