With more than 4,000 participants, the IAC is the biggest annual Space Congress all over the world. From October 1st to 5th October 2018, it will be the second time for the IAC to take place in Bremen. Bremen as the “City of Space“ hosted the IAC in 2003 already and OHB was an important partner for the Congress as well. “For OHB, the IAC is a fixed meeting in our annual timetable. It’s one of the rare opportunities to meet the international community,” says Dr Fritz Merkle, Member of the Executive Board of OHB SE. “For us as a system integrator it’s important to stay connected with the science community and therefore the IAC is the best occasion,“ the physicist explains, who was one of the major supporters of Bremen’s application for IAC 2003 already.

The IAC 2018 will be organized by the Centre of applied Space Technology and Microgravity of the University of Bremen (ZARM) on behalf of the City of Bremen. The German Aerospace Centre (DLR), OHB, MT Aerospace, Airbus Defence and Space and Airbus Safran Launchers committed today to co-operate with ZARM and the City of Bremen for the support of the IAC and to promote the importance of the space sector for Bremen and Germany.

For OHB, the IAC is a big chance to show the whole range of the OHB Group: “Our group shows a wide range of skills and this is what we want to present to the international community. The commitment of Bremen, but also of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy to the Aerospace location Germany verifies that we are in the right place, for our satellite systems as well as for our supply business,“ emphasizes Marco Fuchs, CEO of the OHB SE, which includes MT Aerospace AG.

Hans Steininger, CEO of MT Aerospace AG, amends: “We are happy to be part of “Team Germany“. For us as the major German supplier for the European Launcher Ariane, the IAC offers good opportunities to meet potential customers. We can also learn a lot about the future of exploration and what we should contribute to that journey - to the Moon, the Mars and beyond, you will need a powerful and reliable rocket.“
